Privacy Policy

1. Scope and who we are

This Privacy Policy applies only to Rock Identifier, Android package com.anmolsoftwaredeveloper12345.gemstonerockidentifier. Rock Identifier is developed and published by Anmol Kulshreshtha (referred to as “the developer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Rock Identifier uses artificial intelligence to help identify rocks, minerals, crystals, and gemstones from images and questions supplied by the user. Results are educational and informational and are not a professional geological appraisal, authentication, or valuation.

2. Information the app handles

Images and questions you choose to submit

When you request an identification, the app processes the photograph you take or select and any optional question or text you provide. The app sends that content to Firebase AI Logic and Google Vertex AI so an identification response can be generated. Camera and photo-library access occur only when you use a feature that needs them and grant the relevant device permission.

App and device integrity information

Firebase App Check may process technical signals about the app, installation, device, and request integrity. These signals help confirm that requests come from a legitimate copy of the app and help prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access to the AI service.

Purchase and subscription information

RevenueCat processes subscription status, purchase history, product identifiers, entitlement information, and a randomly generated anonymous App User ID. Google Play processes Android payments. We do not receive your complete payment-card number or card security code.

Information stored on your device

The app stores collections, saved scan results, chat history, journal entries, saved image references, usage-limit counters, and preferences locally on your device. This local information is used to provide the app’s history, collection, journal, chat, and personalization features.

Information we do not request for an app account

Rock Identifier does not provide a developer-operated sign-in account and does not ask you to create a profile with your name, email address, or password. We do not sell personal information.

3. How information is used

Information is processed only as needed to:

• generate the rock, mineral, crystal, or gemstone response you request;
• maintain your local collection, history, journal, chat, and preferences;
• provide, verify, restore, and manage subscription access;
• protect the AI service and app from fraud, misuse, and unauthorized requests;
• respond to privacy, support, or deletion requests; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

The developer does not train its own artificial-intelligence models using your submitted images or questions. Google’s processing of content submitted to its services is governed by its applicable terms, privacy documentation, and service configuration. We therefore do not promise that a service provider will never temporarily retain or log submitted content.

4. Service providers and sharing

We share information only with providers needed to operate the app or when required by law. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy commitments:

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce legal rights, protect users or the public, or investigate fraud and security issues. We do not share submitted images or questions with data brokers or use them for third-party advertising.

5. Permissions

• Camera: used when you choose to photograph a specimen.
• Photos or storage: used when you choose an existing image or save app content, subject to your Android version and settings.
• Internet and network state: used to submit AI requests, check subscription access, and protect services from abuse.

You can change permissions in Android settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.

6. Retention and deletion

Local collections, results, chat sessions, journal entries, images, and preferences remain on your device until you delete the relevant item, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. Android backup or device restoration settings may affect copies controlled by Google or your device manufacturer.

Data processed by Google/Firebase and RevenueCat is retained according to the service configuration, applicable law, and each provider’s retention practices. Purchase records may need to be retained for accounting, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or other legal reasons.

To request access to or deletion of information associated with the app’s service providers, email anmolsoftwaredeveloper@gmail.com. Include “Rock Identifier privacy request” in the subject and enough information to locate the relevant record, such as a purchase receipt identifier. Do not send a complete payment-card number or sensitive identification document. We may need to verify the request and may retain records where required by law.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to the information handled by the app, including encrypted HTTPS connections and Firebase App Check. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

8. International processing

Google/Firebase and RevenueCat may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have different data-protection rules. The providers describe their transfer and protection practices in the policies linked above.

9. Children’s privacy

Rock Identifier is not directed to children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted personal information should contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

10. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection concerning personal information, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. To exercise a right, contact us using the email below. We will respond as required by applicable law.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, service providers, or legal requirements change. The current version will remain available at this URL, and the “Last updated” date will identify the latest revision. Material changes will be communicated when required by law.
